Weiye Su is a Chinese-Canadian director from LGBTQIA2+ community. He recently directed two National Film Board productions - Jia (2020) and A Passage Beyond Fortune (2022). Weiye was selected to be in the Hot Doc Film Festival accelerator program and Yorkton Film Festival mentorship program in 2021. His film approach focuses on telling personal stories about family in their cultural context that evokes further understanding of the ever changing values in society. Besides filmmaking, he also pursues his passion in photography and abstract painting. His art photograph, “Mountain I”, won the Jurors’ Pick in LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2021 and exhibited at Caelum Gallery, NY in 2022.
